Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the advantages of family football scholarships and volunteering for the community. First family: he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football along with three siblings for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's finest lineman. Oklahoma was the winner of two National Championships over the span of three seasons as the lineman. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After graduation, he relocated to Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers was all-pro three times, and began a business career. In 1988 he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked for these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's the top 10 most promising young men. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing a little over 256 pounds. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame was in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
